Some extra shooting days

Hey guys! Today I'll be telling you all about our additional shooting days that I may have mentioned briefly, but didn't go into detail. Something about our film is that it took PLENTY days to film!! So I thought I'd take the time to tell you guys all about how shooting days 2+ went. Enjoy!

DAY 2

We had planned to film the "packing up" to "getting ready" match cut that day! So for this, we needed to have the pictures to decorate my room so that it would look a bit more lively and the UCF sweater to represent the school while packing. Jason had already gone to pick up the pictures from CVS as he left school early. Then, directly after school, he went to pick up Nahomy, Phi, James, and me so we could grab the UCF sweater from my friend's house (and we stopped at Crumbl, lol!) Once we arrived at our filming location (my house!!), we immediately started setting up the boxes to make it look like I was all packed up! I also removed some of the decor from my nightstand to make our 'set' look more bland. Once Leah arrived, we set up the camera and filmed all the box scenes! Believe it or not, after about two hours of filming, this is the only 3-second scene we ended up using from this day! This is because the match cut we had filmed of us getting ready for the party showed up all blurry😓. We had also tried to film the clip of my taking down the pictures from my wall while looking sad, BUT... it didn't work out either. The sun was going down, so we attempted to use the lighting equipment Leah's mom let us borrow, but it just didn't capture the vibe we wanted it to. After these FAILS, our morale was very low, and we were getting hangry... Jason dropped Nay, Leah, Phi, and I at Chilis where we grubbed (a lot...) and forgot about all our worries!

DAY 3

Moving on to day three! We got a LOT of clips done that day. The ladies met up at my house (as per usual) with our minds set on getting the reshoots of our last unsuccessful day, packing the car scene, and the pool day scene! We started off with the party match cut, which was fairly easy to set up as it was our second time doing it... I got some red solo cups, a hair dryer, makeup, and clothes to make my room look a little messier. Luckily, last shooting day, we learned where each girl had to sit to be seen on camera, so shooting this was a breeze. The lads put on some "party" clothes while I wore my robe and headband to give that "in the process" vibe😉. We also had our favorite videographer, James, filming, so we had no issues with the focus this time around! Jason also helped out behind the scenes, making sure the camera was in the same position by using a picture of the boxes scene and comparing the two side-by-side In these clips, we played some hype music in the background, so we weren't just dancing in silence (shoutout to LMFAO)! Much fun was had hehe😎!
Next, we tried to film the college sweater scenes, but they were ultimately a fail😔. The shot was supposed to be taken outside so we could include some nice scenery. However, the sun's glare made this IMPOSSIBLE to film! The camera was supposed to focus on my mom's phone screen and then on us after. We tried moving to the front of the house where it was less sunny, but again, failed with the exposure. We ended up moving on to the next scene as we couldn't lose our precious daylight!
The final scene we filmed was the graphic match cut of me packing the car up, transitioning into a flashback of me unloading the car for a pool day with the girls!! We labeled some of the boxes we used for the prior scenes with "decor" and "jeans" to make them look more realistic. For the shot, Nahomy filmed a mid-shot of me placing a box in the trunk, then pulling into an extreme close-up of my hair. After that, we quickly changed into summer pool clothes and left for my neighborhood clubhouse! We filled Jason’s car with pool essentials like a cooler, towels, a foldable chair, and a volleyball. Unfortunately, Nay Nay ended up having to be left out of the shot as James and Jason didn't understand our vision. To make things WORSE, the camera died in the middle of filming... We sped back to my house, charged it, had an ice cream break, and sped back to the clubhouse to finish the scene. By the time we got back set up again, it was golden hour, and the lighting was making my hair look orange. This was not ideal for the match cut since we wanted the transition to be as smooth as possible, with my hair looking the same color. In the end, it all worked out with the editing!
