Hello, my people!!!! Today I'll be discussing a bit of representation that we've chosen to include in our project. Let'sssss do it 😛!
_________________________________________
Our film represents a diverse group of young girls going to university. Yve (Nahomy), Eli (Phi), Maria (Leah), and Vale (me, Mariana) all have their own unique backgrounds, goals, and aspirations. Yve is seen as the "bad influence" of the group, butttt she has more to her than just a typical rebel girl. While she acts that way to escape her troubled home life, her interest in psychology adds some depth to her. It shows that she doesn't just act that way because she doesn't care and is reckless, she's still a girl with aspirations. This may represent those who struggle with their parents or just home life in general but still want to do something big with their lives! Phi's character, Eli, shows that even though you're shy, you can still do great things instead of just hiding away! Even though she's quiet and has been bullied her WHOLE life, she's smart, kind, probably not what most people expect as she dreams of being a dermatologist!! Maria represents the wisdom and stability that is needed in life. She helps keep everyone somewhat sane, showing that being calm can coexist with others who aren't... Vale is a Colombian migrant who faces immigration trauma yet is still optimistic, smart, and determined. This represents people who may be going through something similar. It isn't an excuse to give up—you can still do so much if you put work into it!
Overall, our film represents those who are going through changes in their lives for example, the main one in our film is the girls leaving each other for college. This might be a bit stereotypical if you look at the overall theme (lol!), but it also includes each girl's personal problems, which show that EVERYONE goes through their own things, whether you know it or not. Our film also represents the bright side of moving on with your life. For example, the girls going off to university opens HUNDREDSSSS of new doors for them, whether that be new friends, new jobs, or even new love prospects😉😛! As of right now, I don't really think we need to change any of the characters to fit this theme. Trust me, we thought long and hard about how each should act and look. Considering we are high school students who don't have much time left in school, I believe our representation is as authentic as it gets! ALSOOO, 3/4 of my group members (including me) have sisters who are seniors this year, so if you think about it, we are representing them and the change they will be going through in just a few months! 13 years of life with the same people and suddenly everything changes...gulp🌚.
