Costuming

 Hey guys, welcome back to your favorite blog channel!! Today I'm going to be discussing Lucia, Chloe, Amber, and Mandy's costumes for the film and why will be wearing that!

Our project requires multiple outfit changes that match the vibe and aesthetic of each character, so costumes are a CRUCIAL part of our mise-en-scene. The opener also has flashbacks to the past history between the girls, so we include 'childish' hairstyles and outfits. Luckily, we had Phi's little sister who we could steal clothes for the flashback scenes, so the childish clothes are very accurate! Since the current versions of the girls have just graduated high school, their outfits are quite casual and simple but match their personalities. Lucia has a casual look, Mandy has a trendy look, Amber has a sporty style, and Chloe has an artsy vibe. 

The costumes we chose for each character (both their young and teen version) weren't just randomly chosen, they each show a part of the girl's personality. Even though it is a very short film and the girls have little screen time, their outfits and how they portray themselves give the audience an idea of how they are the rest of the time, off the screen. The difference in all their outfits and styles also emphasizes how strong their bond is. 

Lucia

 

As you can see from the picture above, Lucia will be wearing light-wash dad jeans, a simple white top, some dainty jewelry, and her hair with slight, natural waves, emphasizing her carefree yet stylish vibe. This outfit was put together by yours truly (I would wear this on any other normal day)! We decided to put her in this outfit as it reflects her down-to-earth style. The casual yet stylish helps represent her as organized and clean.

The flashback scenes of Lucia being her younger self will show her wearing a light yellow t-shirt (which Phi stole from her sister) with dark wash jean shorts. She'll be wearing her hair in a messy ponytail with a pink headband (basically like the picture expect a brunette with thick, long hair...). 

Chloe

Chloe will be wearing a baggy cat sweater, dark-wash baggy jeans, glasses, chunky jewelry, and a bandana with highlighted straight hair. Her look shows her artsy aesthetic, reflecting a creative and deep personality.

The flashback scenes of Chloe as a 10-year-old will show her wearing a white shirt over a blue tight long-sleeve, dark-wash jean shorts, bunny slippers (aren't they cute hehe), and loose pigtails with a bandana or bow!

Amber

Amber, being the athletic girl she is 😎, will be wearing a black Nike long-sleeve, black Lulu  shorts, Nike socks, and a tight ponytail with a brown headband. Her outfit shows that she is the sporty mom of the group with an upbeat personality!

Young Amber will be wearing a white Converse shirt with burgundy leggings and a plaid headband with a tight braid.

Mandy

Mandy will be wearing a baggy yellow shirt, baggy jeans, and headphones, with long, messy wavy hair.  Her outfit gives off a 90s vibe and shows her love for music.

Young Mandy will be wearing a green top with jean shirts and glasses. Her hair will be put up in braided pigtails.
