Hey guys, welcome back to the blog!! Today I created my first storyboard for the final project! This helped me really put my thoughts into something visual which will help A LOT, especially during the filming process. I'll also be explaining the thought process behind making it!

Phi and I started brainstorming the general flow of the story, focusing on the emotional transition from happy nostalgia to tense suspense. We chose to begin in Lucia's childhood room, incorporating mise-en-scene elements like old pictures and bracelet kits to evoke a warm, familiar feeling. This creates a visual connection of the girl's history together. The flashbacks also use a soft, warm light and a match cut to transition between past and present, emphasizing the passage of time. The scenes where they are saying their goodbyes highlight the emotional aspect of them leaving each other, using close-up shots focusing on the girl's tears. The flashbacks of the friendship bracelet (shots 6-7) reinforce how close the girls are and make the present-day goodbye more impactful.
The sudden shift in the storyboard starts at shot 11 when the phones all buzz at the same time. The eerie music in the back replaces the gentle music which emphasizes the change in mood. Close-up shots of the girl's reactions capture their growing unease and create suspense. Subtle glances and body language create tension without having to include dialogue. The close-up of Amber looking down at her bracelet (shots 16-17) highlights the idea that the dynamic has changed as they question how strong their bond is and if anyone can be trusted. The final ding noise on the screen sets the stage up for intrigue, hooking viewers.
Considering we made this storyboard on call while I was in Colombia, it was more difficult to build. I printed the papers and brought them on my trip, so I was in charge of the physical drawing and writing but we both worked together to think of the dynamic shots, angles, and dialogue.
